Unisex Caftan- Vintage Hawaiian Red Print
Unisex Caftan- Vintage Hawaiian Red Print
With Covid-19 keeping us in lockdown most of the time, caftans are becoming a wardrobe staple. I make mine as a simple poncho style- hemmed on all four sides, and a stitch line up each side that makes a 58" circumference tube to give you ample room to move freely, provided your largest measurement is up to 54". A long keyhole neckĀ ties with 3 sets of long ties. And...it has POCKETS!
This caftan is a true One-of-a-Kind, since I made it from a piece of vintage cotton, and there was only enough for this one. It's a cotton crepe woven in Hawaii in the 60's, typically used for Men's sport shirts. The fabric is a medium weight. It's pre-washed, so machine wash in warm water, tumble or line dry.
It measures approximately 42" in width and 49" in length. Stand in front of your mirror with a tape measure, hold it in the center of your neck and take it out your arm to see where half the width (21") falls on your arm. Then check the 49" length from your shoulder to the floor.
