This design was fun to figure out. If you were to lay the pattern piece for the collar flat on the table, you would see a 4-foot diameter doughnut, with a kimono style jacket sewn into the hole. The ring folds down at the neck to form a lovely draped collar that flows into a peplum across the back. Button-and-loop closure.
